Lincoln First United Methodist Church is hosting a “Seeking God in Fresh New Ways” Day Retreat for women onSept. 10th. Chicago Artist Tamara Peterson and Christian Life Purpose Coach Liz Lassa will teach women, teen girls, and female college students two fresh and fun new ways to connect with God.
In the morning session Liz Lassa will share a simple format she uses to help people get deep with God in 10-15 minutes using bullet points in designated prayer circles. This unique format called Spiritual Circle Journaling is not about journaling at all, but about a tangible way to help someone learn how to listen for God’s daily guidance. The result is a more focused quiet time, a deeper relationship with God, and a life guided by the Holy Spirit. Liz will provide time within the morning to be with God and give this fun practice a try.
After a break for lunch attendees will take what they learned from the morning class a step further as Tamara Peterson teaches Spiritual Art Journaling. Participants will capture on a canvas the word, verse, or phrase God put on their hearts during the morning quiet time session using paper, clipped images, textures, and paints. “Ladies will leave with their very own ‘one-of-a-kind’ canvas to remind them of His message for this season,” Peterson said. “The only experience required is kindergarten!”
